Vaping Cost Quick Facts
The vaping cost in the UK is expected to rise from 1 October 2026, when Vaping Products Duty begins.
The price change may not happen across every product at once. Eligible pre-duty stock can still be sold during the grace period, but once it sells through, new duty-stamped stock is expected to cost more.
- Vaping Products Duty starts on 1 October 2026
- The duty is £2.20 per 10ml of vaping liquid
- VAT increases the added tax impact to £2.64 per 10ml
- Eligible unstamped stock may be sold until 31 March 2027
- From 1 April 2027, unstamped vaping products cannot be sold or held legally in the UK
- Popular e-liquid brands and flavours may move through lower-priced stock sooner
- eJuicy bulk orders are subject to stock availability
Why Is the Vaping Cost Going Up in 2026?
The cost of vaping in the UK is expected to rise in 2026 because the Government is introducing Vaping Products Duty. This is a new tax charged according to the amount of vaping liquid inside a product.
The duty is set at £2.20 per 10ml of e-liquid. Once VAT is included, the added tax impact becomes £2.64 per 10ml before product, distribution and retail costs are considered.
This affects a wide range of vaping products, including 10ml e-liquids, nicotine salts, shortfills, nicotine shots and prefilled pods. For a detailed breakdown of how the new duty affects different bottle sizes, read our Vape Tax 2026 guide.
This is not extra profit created by vape shops. It is a Government duty that affects the cost of vaping throughout the supply chain.
Vaping Cost Timeline: When Could Prices Change?
The vaping cost may change in stages rather than all e-liquids increasing on the same day. This depends on when each retailer and supplier runs out of eligible stock bought before the duty began.
| Dates | What customers may see | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Before 1 October 2026 | Current e-liquid prices on available stock | Vaping Products Duty has not yet started. |
| From 1 October 2026 | A mix of current and higher-priced products | New duty-liable vaping products released onto the UK market must carry a vaping duty stamp. |
| October 2026 to 31 March 2027 | Vaping cost may vary between brands, flavours and retailers | Eligible older unstamped stock may still be sold during the grace period while it remains available. |
| From 1 April 2027 | All lawful vaping products must carry a duty stamp | Unstamped stock can no longer be sold or held in the UK. |
HMRC refers to the period from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 as a grace period for eligible unstamped stock. You can read the full rules in HMRC’s guidance for vape retailers.

Why Your Vaping Cost May Rise at Different Times
Not every vape product sells at the same rate. Less popular flavours, older ranges and slower-moving products may stay at their current price for longer because existing stock has not yet sold through.
This does not mean those products will remain cheaper permanently. Once the pre-duty stock is gone, replacement products supplied under the new rules are expected to reflect the higher cost of vaping.
Popular brands and regularly purchased flavours may move first. This can include brands such as Elux, Elf Bar, Bar Juice, ELFLIQ, Kingston, Nictel and Vampire Vape, although availability will always depend on stock levels and customer demand.
How to Manage Your Vaping Cost Before Prices Rise
There is no need to panic buy. However, if you already know the flavours and nicotine strengths you use regularly, buying sensible quantities while eligible current-price stock remains available may help you manage your vaping cost later in 2026.
At eJuicy, we can help with bulk orders of e-liquids, subject to availability. We will aim to respond to every request, but we cannot guarantee stock, particularly for popular brands and flavours.
Many experienced vape shops help regular customers by ordering extra stock where possible. Once pre-duty stock has sold through and replacement products are duty stamped, buying in bulk at current pre-duty prices will no longer be possible.

How UK Vape Rules Could Affect Vaping Cost
Vaping Products Duty is one of several changes affecting the UK vape industry in 2026. New rules around products, sales and promotions may also affect what is available and how retailers operate.
The vaping cost increase is likely to be the most noticeable change for regular customers, particularly for people who buy 10ml e-liquids, nic salts, shortfills and pods on a regular basis. Understanding the key dates now can help you make informed choices without rushing at the last minute.

Final Thoughts on Vaping Cost in 2026
The cost of vaping is expected to rise as existing pre-duty stock is sold and new duty-stamped products take its place. The biggest changes may not happen on one day, but the overall direction of prices is clear.
Some e-liquids may remain at current prices for a while, while others could change sooner as older stock runs out. If you have a tried-and-tested flavour you already enjoy, planning ahead may be more sensible than waiting until your usual product has already increased in price.
